What is this thing between us

These unspoken words.

These thoughts and feelings

we are having

but not sharing?

What is this thing between us

Kept like a shoe box

full of old newspaper clippings

and ticket stubs

Stored away on a shelf

at the back of the closet

What does it mean?

To stay along side someone for so long

and not share

all the the thoughts and feelings we are having.

Part of me thinks:

There is no way you will

feel the same way about me

if I did.
